Good Bones: A Tale of Love, Loss, and Redemption
In fair Verona, where we lay our scene, a tale unfolds that speaks to the heart of love and forgiveness. Good Bones, directed by Kat Candler, brings to life the story of Beckett (Timothy Morton), a struggling architect who inherits his father’s run-down home after his death. Faced with the daunting task of fixing up the house, Beckett must confront his past and come to terms with the mistakes he’s made in his own life.
The film opens with Beckett returning home to find it in a state of disrepair. The roof is leaking, the floors are creaking, and everything seems to be falling apart. But as he begins to work on the house, he realizes that it holds more memories than just those of his father. He remembers spending time there with his ex-girlfriend June (Johari Johnson) and their daughter Mia (Zendaya). The memories are bittersweet, as they remind him of what he’s lost.
As Beckett begins to make progress on the house, he meets a neighbor named Anna (Emily Skeggs), who takes an interest in him and offers him support. As they get to know each other better, Anna becomes a source of strength for Beckett as he confronts the demons from his past.
One day while working on the house, Beckett discovers an old diary hidden in a wall. As he reads through it, he learns about the relationship between his father and mother. He discovers that his mother left his father because she couldn’t handle the emotional turmoil that came with being married to an alcoholic. This revelation sends Beckett into a tailspin as he realizes how much pain his father must have been in.
Throughout the film, we see flashbacks of Beckett’s relationship with June and how it fell apart after their daughter Mia was born. We see the strain it put on Beckett’s relationship with his father and how he turned to alcohol to cope. But as he works on the house, Beckett starts to heal and make amends with those he’s hurt.
One of the standout performances in Good Bones comes from Timothy Morton as Beckett. He brings a sense of vulnerability to the role, making it easy for us to empathize with his character. Emily Skeggs also shines as Anna, bringing a warmth and kindness that is much needed in Beckett’s life.
The film’s score is hauntingly beautiful, perfectly capturing the emotional weight of the story. The cinematography is also stunning, showcasing the natural beauty of Verona and adding to the dreamlike quality of the film.
Good Bones has received critical acclaim since its release, earning several awards at film festivals around the world. It’s easy to see why – the film is a touching exploration of grief, forgiveness, and redemption that leaves a lasting impact on its audience.
But perhaps what makes Good Bones so special is its message of hope. It’s a reminder that no matter how broken we may feel, there’s always a chance for healing and redemption. And in these uncertain times, it’s a message we could all use right now.
In conclusion, Good Bones is a must-see film that will leave you moved and inspired. As Shakespeare once wrote: “The course of true love never did run smooth.” But through perseverance and self-reflection, we can find our way back to happiness. So take some time out of your busy schedule and watch this heartwarming tale – you won’t be disappointed!

- Summary : Good Bones is a comedic coming-of-age story set in the cutthroat world of Hamptons Real Estate. Danny O’Brien, 22, dedicates one last summer to his family’s failing real estate agency, and to his father Joe’s seemingly obsolete values: poetry, integrity, and community. The O’Briens are challenged – endangered – by heartless capitalist modernism, as practiced by the liars and cheaters at Superlative Properties, realtors to the Ultra-Wealthy and Fabulous. Danny complicates the game by falling in love with Clare, a beautiful and suspiciously sophisticated Superlative summer intern. All is framed by the mad swirl of “summer people” who party, sleep around and generally amuse themselves as they indulge in the excesses of “The Season.” And key players chase the grand prize: the open auction, on Labor Day, of Tilden Point – the last great parcel of virgin land on the East Coast.
